     Edmund was born at Arnot-ogden Hospital, Elmira, Ny, on 2 December 1927. He was the son of Charles Elias Stanton Jr. and Pansy Marie Kratzer. He was christened at Joined Presbyterian Church, Sylvania, Pa, on 12 April 1941. Edmund died on 20 June 1986 at Troy Hospital, Troy, Pa. His body was interred at Buried Glenwood Cem., Troy, Pa.

Charles Elias Stanton , Sr

M, b. 25 March 1868, d. 29 May 1930
     Charles was born at Burlington, Bradford Co., Pa, on 25 March 1868. He was christened at Buried Glenwood Cem., Troy, Pa. He was the son of Simon Hodge Stanton and Lurena Hila Adeline Rejoice Rockwell. He married Blanche Rockwell at Probably Troy, Pa, on 3 December 1892. Charles died on 29 May 1930 at Hospital, Sayre, Pa.
      C.E. Stanton & Co. Grocers, 1904. Was prop or manager of the Troy House in the late 1800,s and at the turn of the century as dad was born there. Letter in notebook written from Troy on Feb 19, 1883 to his brother (Norton). Apparently he was ill at the time. Bradford Co.      Blanche was born at Probably Troy, Pa, on 19 September 1874. She was christened at Buried Glenwood Cem., Troy, Pa. She was the daughter of Walter Eugene Rockwell and Ella Williams. She married Charles Elias Stanton , Sr at Probably Troy, Pa, on 3 December 1892. Blanche died on 30 November 1955 at Troy Hospital, Troy, Pa.
      As of 3 December 1892,her married name was Stanton. Took care of Dave Beardsley after her parents were unable to do so. Dave was mentally retarded but was able to provide for his personal care. He always purchased fire works for us children and took great delight in watching our enjoyment each 4th of July at Grandmothers. He died on May 3 or 6, 1944 at the age of 86. He is buried in Glenwood cemetery in the Williams plot. There is no marker. Dave was the brother of Mrs. Gene Wood. Dorothy Turner is the grandaughter of Mrs. Wood. Died on Wed. Nov. 30, 1955. Funeral was on Sat. Dec. 3 with the Rev. Herbert Punchard and Paul Rockwell officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons: Bill Card, Edmund Stanton, Oliver Stanton, Lynn Hough, Neil Bixby and Ed Stanton ?

     Simon was born at Troy, Pa, on 14 May 1895. He was the son of Charles Elias Stanton , Sr and Blanche Rockwell. He married Mary Edna Orcutt at Suffern, Rockland Co., Ny, on 23 January 1943. Simon died on 13 July 1970 at Wysox Twnsp, Pa.
      Worked for North Caralina State Highway Comm. at Raleigh N.C. Jan. 1921 to Dec. 1937, when he returned home to Troy, PA.

Edith Marie Stanton

F, b. 29 August 1903, d. 4 September 1990
     Edith was born at Troy, Pa, on 29 August 1903. She was christened at Buried Sylvania Cemetery. She was the daughter of Charles Elias Stanton , Sr and Blanche Rockwell. She married James Thornton Card on 19 August 1927. Edith died on 4 September 1990 at Troy Community Hospital, Troy, Pa.
      As of 19 August 1927,her married name was Card. Taught school 43 1/2 years in Sylvania and Troy. She taught me and Edmund in the eight grade one room school on the Mountain Road in Sylvania. I believe that Ed had her all 8 years. I went to 6th grade in Spring Valley NY, and so was taught only 7 years by Aunt Marie. Member Sylvania Presbyterian Church.

Simon Hodge Stanton

M, b. 7 August 1835, d. 16 November 1918
     Simon was born at Owego, Tioga Co., Ny, on 7 August 1835. He was the son of Joseph Angelo Stanton and Nancy Blow. He married Lurena Hila Adeline Rejoice Rockwell at Troy, Bradford Co., Pa, on 27 August 1861. Simon died on 16 November 1918 at Troy, Pa.
      Obituary: "Simon H. Stanton - For more than a year a great suferer (sic), Simon H. Stanton passed peacefully away last Saturday evening Nov. 16th, 1918. He was born at Owego, N.Y., August 7th, 1835, and had therefore reached the ripe age of 83 years, 3 months and 9 days. Fifty-seven years ago last August 27th he married Hila Rockwell, who survives with two sons, Edward L. and Charles E. Stanton. Norton, who completed the family circle, passed on two years ago. Mr. Stanton came to Troy from Burlington in 1878. A kindly man of sound judgment and unwavering integrity, he was justly looked upon as one of Troy's Substantial citizens. He was a faithful devoted member for half a century of the Baptist church which for a long time he served as deacon. Besides his wife and sons he leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Patterson, thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two of the former are with the American Expeditionary force in France. It was a matter of satisfaction to him to have lived to see the end of the war. Funeral services were held at the home at 2 Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. N. Johnstne, his paster, officiating. Interment was in Glenwood cemetery." Bradford Co. Directory 1910 - 12 dairy cows and farmer 137 r 12 is E. Main St. behind cemetery Ruth Putnam Bauman (whose father Azor Putnam was raided by The Azor Rockwells) relates in her letter of May1, 1994 that she was taught to call him Uncle Sime and Aunt Hila.

     Lurena was born at Troy, Pa, on 12 May 1842. She was the daughter of Rufus Mead Rockwell and Mary Alvord. She married Simon Hodge Stanton at Troy, Bradford Co., Pa, on 27 August 1861.
      As of 27 August 1861,her married name was Stanton. Date of birth in the family bilble has been "corrected" to reflect May 12, 1842. Family history 1850 - Was 7 years old the May 12th. 1849 and is going to school. (Written by R. Clarence Rockwell by order of Rufus Rockwell in Troy, PA., Jan 1st 1850) Family history 1860 - Hila is going to school. (Written by R. C. Rockwell, Troy, PA Jan 1st, 18600 Family history 1870 - Was married to Simon Stanton 1861, is living at Burlington, PA. (Written by Lydia Fasset Rockwell, Troy, PA, Jan 1st, 1870) Family history 1880 - Is now living on the Old Homestead, the original farm of Rufus Rockwell before mentioned. Her 3 sons: Norton, age 18, Edward age 15, and Chas. age 12 are with their parents on the farm. Hila had a daughter born since the former record was made which died in infancy. Stanton was married Feb. 16, 1886 to Edith Evans, has one daughter age 3. both Norton and Edward Stanton reside on a portion of their father's farm on the Old Homestead aforesaid. Chas. Rockwell at Dubuque, Iowa, Jan 1st 1890) Family history 1900 - Still lives on the Old Homestead at Troy, PA, in the same house in which Rufus Rockwell died in 1873. she, too, is very active in her old age and is able and willing to look after the welfare of her children and her grandchildren in health or sickness. She has three sone living within three miles of her home. Norton Stanton, the oldest son is a farmer and lives two and one-half miles east of Troy, has one son and two daughters. Edward the second son, is in the livery business, has two daughters and one son. He is fond of a good horse and his best "Rigs" are at the disposal of his uncles when they come three or four thusnd miles to see him. Charles, the youngest son of the agoresaid Hila, is Landlord of the Troy House, the leading hotel of the place. Joseph Angelo Stanton

     Joseph was born on 11 January 1804. He was christened at Bur. Church Cemetery, W. Burlington, Pa. He was the son of Jabez Stanton and Dolly (?). He married Nancy Blow on 20 September 1829. Joseph died on 18 November 1863. Joseph died on 18 November 1863 at West Burlington, Pa.
      The census of 1850 (Nichols # 122) shows a John Stanton living in the household, a laborer aged 41 born in NY. Is he a brother? Farmer in Nichols, NY, according to the 1850 census. According to the Owego Gazette (microfilm reviewed at the Tioga Co. Historical Society in Owego, NY) on 22-Sept-1829: Joseph Staunton married Sept 20 to Nancy Blow by Wm. White, Esq. in Owego. Gravestone reads; d. nov 18, 1863 Age 59 yrs 10m 2d.

      As of 20 September 1829,her married name was Stanton. Herkimer Co. is north-east of Rome NY. Grave stone reads d. August 18, 1887 Have a note from Hiram Blow who had a business in Titisville PA and Kentucky. What relation was he to Nancy?

She married Leon Delos Hoagland at Lambs Creek, Pa, on 26 August 1879. She married John W. Kratzer at Gibson, Town Of Corning, Ny, on 29 August 1893. Barbara was divorced from John W. Kratzer. She married Theodore F. Bardwell at Bardwell Home Near Troy, Pa, on 1 January 1915. Barbara was divorced from Leon Delos Hoagland. She became engaged to John W. Kratzer at William A. Spencer, Jp. She became engaged to Leon Delos Hoagland at William Ripley, Jp. She became engaged to Theodore F. Bardwell at Rev. Merritt Soper. Barbara died on 29 November 1951 at Sylvania Boro, Bradford Co., Pa. Her body was interred on 2 June 1901 at Member: Mansfield Baptist Chur.
      As of 26 August 1879,her married name was Delos Hoagland. As of 29 August 1893,her married name was Kratzer. As of 1 January 1915,her married name was Bardwell. John Kratzer: Married by William A. Spencer, Justice of the Peace; witnesses were Jane Spencer and John A. Webb. Subpeona in divorce on April 17, 1905, John W. Kratzer vs. Barbara Kratzer for hearing May 4. Divorce decree on Dec, 7, 1914 Barbara Kratzer vs. John. Apparently was living in Dundee N.Y. in 1903, while husband (Kratzer) was working in the Marshlands. (See letter from him in notebook) Married to Theodore F. Bardwell by Merritt A. Soper. Wittnesses: Bessie and Pansy Kratzer, Geo. Bardwell and wife Ella, Mrs. Geo. Gardner and Guy Day. Joined Mansfield Baptist Church by Experience June 2, 1901. Was member of Southside Baptist Church, Elmira, N.Y. - Mrs J.B. Krotzer was her Sunday Class teacher (See picture in notebook) Tioga Count Directory 1907-1910 Mansfield Boro - Kratzer Mrs Barbara Laundress St. James St. Converstation with Ruth Putnam Bauman (June 1, 1994) - Lived on the Hiram Rockwell farm up the road by Longs Pond/mill. Wedding to Mr. Bardwell was after they had butchered a hog.

M, b. 17 March 1826, d. 23 January 1903
     Jacob was born at Catskill, Green Co., Ny, on 17 March 1826. He was christened at Farm Cemetery In Watrous Area. He married Sarah A. Howland at Roseville, Tioga Co., Pa, on 7 November 1850. He became engaged to Sarah A. Howland at By Erastus Rose, Esq.. Jacob died on 23 January 1903 at Gaines Twp, Tioga Co., Pa. His body was interred at Burial Site Moved To Knowlton.
      Data abstracted from the Pension File: Jacob Allen first tried to get an invalid pension 12th Sep 1881. He stated, " he served as a Private in Co., C., 171st Pennsylvania Militia was disabled by fever and ague and chronic diahrrea contracted while at Galesville, North Carolina...... He enlisted 25th Oct 1862 at Camp Curtin, Pennsylvania for nine months; was discharged the 8th Aug 1863.... His address is Marshfield, Tioga Co., PA. - Information was witnessed by, Henry Sherwood & S. M. Geer and singned by himself, in the presence of Henry C. Cox. He received $12.00 per month..Dropped from rolls Jan 4th 1903 because of death...tombstone on his farm reads, "Jacob H. Allen (on top of stone) born Mar 17, 1826; died Jan 23rd 1903 co., C 171st Regt PA ( on side of stone) The remains and tombstone of Jacob H. Allen, moved from his Farm Cemtery Watrous, Tioga Co., PA to the Knowlton Cemetery near by...

She was the daughter of Seth Elmer Howland and Susannah Barbary Rhodes. She married Jacob H. Allen at Roseville, Tioga Co., Pa, on 7 November 1850. She became engaged to Jacob H. Allen at By Erastus Rose, Esq.. Sarah died on 21 August 1912 at Richburg, Ny.
      As of 7 November 1850,her married name was Allen. Married by Erastas Rose Esq. "she states, she is of feeble health, cannot support herself, and has no income.... Witnessed by, Mrs. Fred Maynard. William R. Rumsey & Belinda D. (Howland) Rumsey swore was telling the truth.... Belinda is a sister of Sarah's and lives in the Watrous area... Advertised, Sheriff's Sale at Court House in Wellsboro, saturday, Jun 27th 1903 at one o'clock...Lot of land in Gaines Twp, consisting of 25 acres, a framed house, a framed barn, outbuildings, some fruit and ornamental trees, the said lot being part of Warrant No. 2479; in said twp of gaines.... to be sold as the property of Mrs. Sarah Allen and J. H. Allen, defendents and Lura Baker & Fred Maynard, terre tenants, suits of A. P. & E. S. Dartt... Sarah also states, "she was aged 75 years lived Gaines Twp, Tioga Co., PA.... that she was married under the name of Sarah Howland to Jacob H. Allen the 7th Nov 1850 be Erastus Rose, J.P. and that neither had been married before.... that Jacob H. Allen, her husband died 23rd Jan 1903 attested to by Fred Maynard and Maud Maynard. Dated 25th Feb 1903. She states, "she is the widow of the late soldier, Jacob H. allen and that about 18th Mar 1909 at Richburg, Allegany County, NY the house and all of the contents were burned... Sworn to by Maude U. Marynard dated 28th Mar 1909. Pension was terminated because of death 21st Aug 1912. A child Hosea (is the Hezakiah b. 1878) is not listed in the Pension Record and but, is listed in the 1880 census.      Seth was born at Neversink, Sullivan Co., Ny, on 6 April 1799. He was the son of John Howland and Ruth Ann Gilbert. He was christened at Rutland (tioga Co., Pa?), in 1858. He married Susannah Barbary Rhodes circa 1819. Seth died on 21 March 1876 at Rutland, Tioga Co., Pa.
      Lived Rutland Twnshp, Tioga Co., PA, was listed in the 1830 census. Thought to have moved with their family from Sullivan Co., NY to Rutland Pa about 1828. (Eileen K. Jones in Part Two, Vol II).

     Theodore was born in 1856. He married an unknown person on 7 July 1880. He married Barbara E. B. Allen at Bardwell Home Near Troy, Pa, on 1 January 1915. He became engaged to Barbara E. B. Allen at Rev. Merritt Soper. Theodore died on 28 March 1925 at Blossburg State Hospital, Blossburg, Pa.

     Matie was born at Franklindale, Pa, on 31 August 1893. She was christened at Bur. Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, Pa. She was the daughter of Robert Marshall. Matie died on 17 July 1982 at Troy, Pa.
      Worked at the Borden's Condensary at Troy PA. Owned Dry Cleaning and tailoring Shop, doing alterations for J. C. Pennys and individuals. Studied for LPN in 1941 at Emerson Hospital in Boston, MA and worked for Dr. Clarence Couch in Troy. Owner and operater of the New Trojan Restaurant in the 1940's and the Troy Hotel in the 1950's. Retired in 1960.

     Oliver was born at Troy, Pa, on 15 May 1916. He was christened at Buried Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, Pa. He was the son of Simon Eugene Stanton and Matie Marshall. Oliver died on 21 February 1987 at Troy Community Hospital Troy, Pa.
      Occupation: Accountant Member of: Troy Presbyterian Church, Sayre Sportsman's Club, Towanda Elks, and Canton Moose Member and Secretary of Corey Creek Golf Club. Member and Secretary/Treasurer of Wheel Inn, Roaring Branch, PA Catherine Metarko was his fiance for many years. She died in 1965.

She married an unknown person at Troy, Pa, on 28 January 1918. She married Simon Eugene Stanton at Suffern, Rockland Co., Ny, on 23 January 1943. Mary died on 5 November 1986 at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Cn.
      As of 23 January 1943,her married name was Stanton. Was delivered by Mahlon B. Ballard M.D. at Troy, PA. per birth affidavit. Married to Harold Jones by Rev. James N. Foster. Married to Uncle Gene by Junius J. Howe, Acting Police Justice. Witnessed by Charles E. and Pansy Stanton. For many years she was employed at the Troy Gazzette Register during the ownership of Ralph VanKuren. Had been cared for and was living with her nephew, Charles and Wilda Hulse at the time of her death, in South Glastonbury, CT.

      Newspaper Clip - "Sylvania Youth Victom of Knife in Paterson, N.J. James Thornton Card, 26, dies in hospital few hours after injury in mysterious circumstances." (1933) - Newspaper clipping in the files. Was an egg and chicken dealer in Sylvania, PA. Was in Paterson, N.J. on business at the time of his murder.

     Jennie was born on 7 October 1862. She was christened at Buried Glenwood Cem., Troy, Pa. She was the daughter of Daniel Wilcox and Lura Putnam. She married Norton R. Stanton on 30 September 1884. Jennie died on 20 November 1937.
      As of 30 September 1884,her married name was Stanton. Was raised by a Rockwell. The Rockwell family history of 1890 therefore refers to her as a Rockwell when she married Norton Stanton.
