     Adam was born at Charlestown, RI, in 1749. Raymond Sheffield indicates Westerly..2,3 He was the son of John Stanton and Dorothy Richardson. He married Elizabeth Treat at Preston, CT, on 4 December 1777.2 Adam died on 15 October 1834 at Clinton, New London, CT.3
     He resided at Killingworth, CT, in 1775. He moved from Westerly, RI to Middlesex county, Conn., in 1774-75 and settled in Killingworth in the southern part, which is now called Clinton. He built his house on the lot where stood the house of Abraham Pierson, the first president of Yale College. The timbers of Pierson's house are now in the Stanton house. Adam's first business was making salt from Long Island Sound, sending it by ox trains to Boston, and selling it for $2 a bushel.2

     Charles was born at Stonington, New London, CT, on 30 November 1839.2 He was the son of Capt. Charles Thompson Stanton and Nancy L. Palmer.
      In 1891 he was unmarried, living in Stonington. In 1862 he raised a company for service in the Civil War, was chosen its Captain and joined the 21st Reg. Conn. Vol; he was promoted to Major, 25 July 1864; and was discharged 14 Sep 1864 "on account of disability from wounds received in action." In 1866 and 1867, he was Adjutant General of Connecticut under Governor Hawley. He was brevetted Major and Lieutenant Colonel. From 1869 to 1885 he was sugar planting in Louisiana.

     Lois was born on 9 April 1725.2 She was the daughter of Samuel Stanton Jr. and Lois Cobb. She married Edward Denison on 19 December 1750. No issue..2 She married Nathaniel Miner on 19 April 1769. No issue..2 Lois died on 24 January 1807.2
      As of 19 December 1750,her married name was Denison. As of 19 April 1769,her married name was Miner.

     Nathan was born at Stonington, New London, CT, on 2 April 1732.2 He was the son of Samuel Stanton Jr. and Lois Cobb. He married Elizabeth Billings.2 Capt. Nathan Stanton died on 3 July 1736 at Stonington, New London, CT. On page 498, in his father's family, of the Stanton book it indicates he was downed inthe Pawcatuck river. On page 500 in his family's listing it says he was lost at sea.2
