     Hannah was born at Westerly, RI, in 1714. She was the daughter of Joseph Stanton and Esther Gallup. She married Dr. Joshua Babcock at Westerly, Washington Co., RI, on 11 August 1735.² Hannah died on 19 September 1778.
     Her married name was Babcock.

     Joshua was born at Westerly, RI, on 17 May 1707. He was the son of Capt. James Babcock and Elizabeth Saunders. He married Hannah Stanton at Westerly, Washington Co., RI, on 11 August 1735.¹ Joshua died on 1 April 1783 at Westerly, Washington Co, RI.¹
      He studied in Boston and England. He was Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.

     He married Elizabeth Saunders.

     Samuel Stanton was baptized on 17 July 1698. He was the son of Joseph Stanton and (?) Prentice. Samuel Stanton died young.

     Rebecca was born in April 1681. She was the daughter of Joseph Stanton and Hannah Lord. Rebecca Stanton married Joseph Babock, son of John Babock and Mary Lawton, circa 1698. They had issue.² Rebecca Stanton died 5 Apr 1745/6 to 1747.²
     Her married name was Babock.

     Esther was born at Westerly, RI, in 1708. Raymond Sheffield says Stonington, New London Co., CT. No citation..^2,3 She was the daughter of Joseph Stanton and Esther Gallup. Esther Stanton married Robert Hazard.³
     Her married name was Hazard.

     Nancy was born in 1716. She was the daughter of Joseph Stanton and Esther Gallup.

     Joseph was born at Westerly, RI, on 23 April 1717. Raymond Sheffield indicates 23 Apr 1705. No citation.. He was the son of Joseph Stanton and Esther Gallup. Col. Joseph Stanton married Mary Champlin, daughter of William Champlin, on 9 August 1738.² Col. Joseph Stanton married Mary Gardiner, daughter of Henry Gardiner and Abigail Eldred, in 1752.²
     Col. Joseph Stanton began military service in 1745.

     Sarah was born at Westerly, RI, in 1719. She was the daughter of Joseph Stanton and Esther Gallup.
     Her married name was Babock.

     Lucy was born at Westerly, RI, on 22 September 1722. She was the daughter of Joseph Stanton and Esther Gallup. Lucy Stanton married Christopher Champlin, son of Christopher Champlin and Elizabeth Denison, on 19 August 1756. Lucy Stanton died on 30 January 1766.
     She lived at Charlestown, RI. As of 19 August 1756,her married name was Champlin.

     Adam Babcock was born on 27 September 1740 at Westerly, RI.. He was the son of Dr. Joshua Babcock and Hannah Stanton.

     Col. Henry Babcock was born on 26 April 1736 at Westerly, RI.. He was the son of Dr. Joshua Babcock and Hannah Stanton. He married Mary Stanton on 2 December 1764. Henry died on 7 October 1800.
      Col. Henry Babcock was also known as Harry. Henry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boston, Mass. He served as a colonel in the Revolutionary War and as a Captain of A company in Canada during the French and Indian War in 1754 and was known as Col. Harry.

     Luke Babcock was born on 6 July 1738 at Westerly, RI.. He was the son of Dr. Joshua Babcock and Hannah Stanton.
      He was an Episcopal clergyman and a Tory.

     Frances Babcock was born on 11 May 1745 at Westerly, RI.. She was the daughter of Dr. Joshua Babcock and Hannah Stanton.

     John was born on 6 July 1734. He was the son of Hon. Peter Bourse and Anne Fairchild. He married Hannah Babcock on 17 July 1762. John died on 26 January 1815.

     Peter was born on 5 May 1782. He was the son of John Bours and Hannah Babcock. He married Mary Walker Robinson.

     Mary was born on 15 July 1794. She was the daughter of Capt. Thomas Robinson and Deborah Warne. She married Peter Bours. She married W. Peter Bours on 24 November 1810. Mary died on 1 October 1859 at Geneva, NY.
     Her married name was Bours. Mary was adopted by her father Thomas' sister Mary and her husband Benjamin. Her father was a Captain in the U.S. Navy. The book "The Pioneers of Utica" characterized her as tall, vigorous, and truly noble character, straight forward and independent. After their removal to Geneva, and when her husband had lost his eyesight, she contributed in various ways to their support.

     Capt. Thomas Robinson was the son of (?) Robinson. He married Deborah Warne.

     W. was born on 5 May 1782. He was the son of John Bours and Hannah Babcock. He married Mary Walker Robinson on 24 November 1810. W. died on 30 October at Geneva, NY.
      Newport, Rhode Island was occupied by the British first from December 1776 to September 1779, then by the French from July 1780 until June 1781. The place became an economic disaster after the war, and Peter Bours removed to Utica, NY in 1806.

The book "The Pioneers of Utica" relates that in October 1807 in Utica, he started a retail mercantile business which he termed a "new cheap store" at the sign of the golden eagle. The supposition is that this was the sign that his father and grandfather had used in Newport before him. His stock was large and consisted of the miscellaneous assortment then kept by others of the time, including dry goods, groceries, crockery, hardware, etc.

Some three years later he gave notice of his intention to close his present business and offered his stock at cost. he then went into partnership with Stalham Williams in the sale of hardware. They characterized their establishment as the first of the kind in the western district, and declared that they imported directly from the maufacturers in London, Birmingham, and Sheffield. The firm did not last and it was dissolved in August 1811. Early the following year his creditors were invited to show cause why he should not be discharged from his debts.

After his marriage he was living in a house he had built for himself on the north west corner of Broad and First streets (later occupied by T. K. Butler). The house, which was uncommonly expensive and stylish for the time, was begun before Broad street was fully opened. As it was fully mortgaged, in May 1814 it was sold under reclosure.

By that time he had organized a new company, the Utica Glass Factory, in Glassville in the present town of Marcy. He acted for some time as the superintendent and moved there with his family. This factory was not successful.

In 1818 he opened a land office in Utica for recording and exhibiting for sale unsettled lands and improved farms. He also left this and became an auctioneer. He bought at auction thirteen acres from the estate of Colonel Walker and there he raised vegetables for the village market. In 1826 he went to Geneva, NY.

He had boundless activity and enterprise, but was speculative and visionary. having a good opinion of himself and being fond of making a show, he came into much public notice and postion, though his opinions did not carry the weight of others of sounder judgement who were less forward. Making money readily during a part at least of his career, he spent as freely, and consumed a large share of his commissions in advertising and office hire. He was rather stocky, light complexioned, wore glasses, a flowing ruffleld shirt, and large gold chain and seal. For many years he was a vestryman of Trinity Church, and in 1822 was it Treasurer.

     Caroline Bours was the daughter of W. Peter Bours and Mary Walker Robinson.

     Benjamin W. Bours was the son of W. Peter Bours and Mary Walker Robinson.

     John H. H. Bours was the son of W. Peter Bours and Mary Walker Robinson.
      He lived in Jacksonville, Florida.

     Mary was born on 3 February 1813. She was the daughter of W. Peter Bours and Mary Walker Robinson. Mary died on 26 February 1899.

     Thomas was born in 1815. He was the son of W. Peter Bours and Mary Walker Robinson. Thomas died in 1889.
      He lived in Alamos, Mexico.

     Allen was born at Geneva, NY, in 1831. He was the son of W. Peter Bours and Mary Walker Robinson. Allen died in 1916.
      He went west to Stockton, California in the 1840's where he met and married his wife in the early 1850's. They lost their first two sons. They returned to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1867 or 1868 because his wife's father had a serious illness. Allen became involved in building the Michigan State Capital building and was the Secretary of the Building Commission in the 1870's. They then moved to Detroit where he lived until he died.

     Thomas was born at Stockton, CA, in September 1860. He was the son of Allen Lee Bours.

     Alfred was born at Bolton, MA, on 19 April 1811. He was the son of Windsor Stow and Mary Houghton. Alfred died before 1879.
      He is descended from Thomas Stow and Elizabeth Wetherbee. The line is Thomas Stow married Elizabeth Wetherbee. John married Elizabeth Bigg. Thomas Married Mary Grigges. Samuel (1645 Roxbury) married Elizabeth Stone. Samuel (1680 Stow, MA) married Sarah Snow. Simon (1721 Marlborough) married Sarah Hayden. Quartus (1755 Marlborough) married Hannah Ray. Windsor (1783 Marlborough) married Mary Houghton.

     He married Mary Houghton.

     She married Windsor Stow.
     Her married name was Stow.

     Elizabeth was born at Templeton, MA, on 14 June 1844. She married Edward Henry Cortney Taylor at Stockton, CA, in 1866. Elizabeth died on 22 November 1870 at Stockton, CA. Her body was interred on 23 November 1870 at Stockton, CA, at Stockton Rural Cemetery. She was buried in the Taylor family block..
      As of 1866,her married name was Taylor. In a letter written in 1875 by Edward Henry Cortney Taylor he refers to her as Elizabeth Robinson Stowe, grand-daughter of P. Bours, niece of my brother's wife (Caroline Bours daughter of P. Bours, Esq.) and of B.W. Bours Esq. of Stockton.

     Edward was born on 27 January 1840. He was the son of Walter Teller Taylor and Charlotte Dobbin. He married Elizabeth (Lilie) Robinson Stowe at Stockton, CA, in 1866. Edward died on 13 August 1905.
      In a letter dated 1875 he says in September 1865 he left Geneva and sailed via Panama for California, arriving in San Francisco in October and proceeded at once to Stockton. There he married.

     He married Charlotte Dobbin.

     She married Walter Teller Taylor.
     Her married name was Taylor.

     Carrie was born at Stockton, CA, on 8 May 1868. She was the daughter of Edward Henry Cortney Taylor and Elizabeth (Lilie) Robinson Stowe. She married John Thompson on 15 October 1895. Carrie died on 15 October 1895.
      As of 15 October 1895,her married name was Thompson. She was an accomplished classical guitarist.

     John was born at Schleswig Holstein on 22 September 1870. He married Carrie Bours Taylor on 15 October 1895. John died on 17 April 1935 at Des Moines, IA.
      John graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in agriculture. He was a college professor at Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina. Later he became an editor of top agricultural papers including Wallaces' Farmer and Iowa Homestead.

     Hugh was born at Clemson, SC, on 30 June 1896. He was the son of John Thompson and Carrie Bours Taylor. He married Corlis Elizabeth Gibson at Des Moines, IA, on 30 June 1923. Hugh died on 20 August 1968 at Flushing, NY.

     Emily was born at Clemson, SC, on 13 February 1898. She was the daughter of John Thompson and Carrie Bours Taylor. She married Joseph Kenneth Rice at Des Moines, IA, on 20 August 1924. Emily died on 20 June 1982 at Sarasota, FL.
