     He resided at Killingworth, CT, in 1775. He moved from Westerly, RI to Middlesex county, Conn., in 1774-75 and settled in Killingworth in the southern part, which is now called Clinton. He built his house on the lot where stood the house of Abraham Pierson, the first president of Yale College. The times of Pierson's house are now in the Stanton house. Adam's first business was making salt from Long Island Sound, sending it by ox trains to Boston, and selling it for $2 a bushel.
