His reasons are: 1) Robert had a son William, b. in 1727. 2_ In Dec. 1806 a William Stanton died in Litchfield, CT, aged 78 years. He had lived in Litchfield since before the Revolutionary War, and was a captain in Col. Elisha Sheldon/s REgiment of Dragoons. He believed this Capt. William Stanton was the William b. in 1727 and who was the father of William and Rebecca of Litchfield.²
