     Samuel Chesebrough was the son of Nathaniel Chesebro Sr. and Hannah Denison. He married Priscilla Alden at Duxbury, Plymouth, MA, on 4 January 1699.¹

     Eleazar was born at Preston, New London, CT, on 28 September 1735.¹ He married Sarah Stanton at Preston, New London, CT, on 19 October 1758.¹ Eleazar died in December 1805 at Preston, New London, CT.¹

     Amos was born at Stonington, New London Co., CT, on 2 February 1709. He married Desire Williams at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 2 December 1729. Amos died on 13 September 1770.

     He married Mary Chesebrough at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 1 May 1759.

     Maxon was born on 8 September 1808.¹ He married Nancy Chesebro on 25 December 1827. Maxon died on 7 March 1883.

     Nancy was born at Deansboro, Oneida Co., NY, on 13 January 1803.¹ She married Peter Ducher on 23 September 1821. She married Maxon Cheesebro on 25 December 1827. Nancy died on 9 September 1864.¹
     As of 23 September 1821,her married name was Ducher. As of 25 December 1827,her married name was Cheesebro.

     He married Nancy Chesebro on 23 September 1821.

     Marie was born at Stonington, New London, CT, on 6 October 1671. She married Elisha Chesebrough Sr. at Stonington, New London, CT, on 27 January 1692. Marie died on 29 November 1704 at Stonington, New London, CT.

     Priscilla was born circa 1679.¹ She married Samuel Chesebrough at Duxbury, Plymouth, MA, on 4 January 1699.¹
     As of 4 January 1699,her married name was Chesebrough. She was the great-granddaughter of John Alden who married Priscilla Mullins and whose courtship has been immortalized by Longfellow.

     Lawrence was born at Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co, Pa, on 24 June 1911. He was the son of Albert "Bert" Brown Chesebro' and Florence Margaret Kennedy. He married Sylvia Imogene Rosebrough at Parrish Of Calcasieu, Calcasieu Co, La, on 16 January 1937. Lawrence was divorced from Sylvia Imogene Rosebrough. Lawrence died on 16 February 1972 Cirrhosis of the liver at Tulsa, Tulsa Co, Ok. Cirrhosis of the liver.
     In an unknown date Lawrence Edmund "Ed" Chesebro' Sr. was a member of Presbyterian. Lawrence's occupation: Salesman, Purchasing Agent, Busi. Presbyterian 1. Ed is a Mayflower descendant (John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley) and a Son of the American Revolution (SAR) (Samuel Chesebrough, 1743-1811).

3. Ed was the proprietor of Sooner Distributors, Inc., Tulsa, Oklahoma distributors of Carta Blanca and Regal beer before Carta Blanca became popular.

     Albert was born at East Brady, Clarion Co, Pa, on 25 January 1881. He was the son of Edmund Palmer Chesebro' and Salina "Lina" Jane Brown. He married Florence Margaret Kennedy at St. Elmo, Fayette Co, Il, on 11 June 1906. Albert was divorced from Florence Margaret Kennedy. Albert died on 26 November 1952 at Tulsa, Tulsa Co, Ok.

2. Kittanning Telephone Company document with Bert's signature confirms use of the apostrophe ca 1900.

3. Bert graduated from Grove City College military school. He was first employed by Peoples Natural Gas Co. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania but was mostly employed by Carter Oil (Standard of NJ). He was one of the founders of the Petroleum Accountants Society of Oklahoma. Bert was also employed by the US Engineers (Corps of Engineers) at the Oklahoma Ordinance Works, Pyror, Oklahoma during WWII.

4. Bert's will (handwritten by Ed as Bert was legally blind at the time) was written in 1950 and as Lina Jane's beneficiary left Lina Jane's 2/5 Brown Sugarcreek Township, Pennsylvania homestead inheritance to Larry with Ed as administrator.

5. Bert's cemetery burial lot deed, dated January 6, 1948, is for Memorial Park, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

6. Bert's funeral memorial book contains many notes and newspaper clippings.

     Florence was born at St. Elmo, Fayette Co, Il, on 1 November 1884. She married Albert "Bert" Brown Chesebro' at St. Elmo, Fayette Co, Il, on 11 June 1906. Florence was divorced from Albert "Bert" Brown Chesebro'. Florence died at Klamath Falls, Klamath Co, Or.
     As of 11 June 1906,her married name was Chesebro'. 1. Florence is featured in a Tulsa newspaper (probably the Tulsa World) clipping as a member of the entertainment committee for the Thomas Dewey, Presidential candidate, reception line which Mrs. Dewey will be included (1944).

2. Florence is mentioned and pictured in the Tulsa World Newspaper clipping dated June 11, 1944 selling war bonds (WWII).

3. An American Red Cross certificate dated April 1944 certifies Florence as completing the Hospital and Recreation Corps course.

4. Florence was active in the Christian Scientist religion.

5. Martha (may be Martha or Mattie Nall), in an old photograph, was an aunt of Florence but her maiden name is unknown.

6. Florence's St. Elmo, IL High School Diploma records her graduation date of May 8th, 1903.

7. Florence's birth date is of some concern because even she did not remember the year as 1883 or 1884. She tried to determine the actual year through local government agencies without confirmation. We have used the recorded dates in the Edmund Palmer and Lina Brown Chesebro' family bible.

8. Florence's family bible is filed with other Chesebro' family bibles.

     Edmund was born at Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY, on 19 September 1852. He was the son of Albert Chesebro' and Phebe Eights Cobb. He married Salina "Lina" Jane Brown at East Brady, Clarion County, Pa, on 11 September 1879. Edmund and Salina "Lina" Jane Brown were sealed. Temple Code:. Edmund died on 31 May 1917 at Petrolia, Butler Co, Pa.

2. 1900 US census shows Edmund's mother, Phebe Eights Cobb, and father, Albert Chesebro' born in Connecticut with his birth date as May, 1852. The birth date is contrary to the Wildey book source and the family bible mentioned below. We have chosen the family bible for Edmund's birth date.

3. Edmund clerked for Thomas Benton Brown in Brown & Company's Petrolia, Pennsylvania store beginning in 1876 when he first came to Pennsylvania and there apparently met his future wife, Salina Jane Brown. Edmund and James M. Brown were principals of the company along with Thomas in the 1880's. Edmund bought the store outright, becoming the sole proprietor in 1896.

4. Phebe Eights Cobb Chesebro' gave Edmund and Lina their family bible Christmas 1879 as recorded in the bible. Her entry, confirming the apostrophe, was:

"Lina & Ed From Mother Chesebro' Christmas 1879"

5. A property indenture confirms Edmund's lot in Petrolia, Pennsylvania (1882) .

6. Quit claim deed in Petrolia, Pennsylvania signed with the apostrophe in Edmund's signature confirms the use of an apostrophe to represent the shortened name in 1890.

7. "Edward" on Edmund's and Lina's marriage certificate is an example of so many documents with misspellings.

8. Gas and oil lease of farm contains Edmund's apostrophe signature in 1902.

9. Edmund's will is dated May 10, 1916 and was probated June 6, 1917 in Butler County, Pennsylvania with his wife, Lina Jane Brown Chesebro' appointed executrix.

10. Edmund's grave site is in East Brady, Pennsylvania.

11. Edmund's death memorial plaque misspells name - "Edward P. Chesbro".

     Salina was born at Sugar Creek Township, Armstrong Co, Pa, on 3 October 1853. She married Edmund Palmer Chesebro' at East Brady, Clarion County, Pa, on 11 September 1879. Salina and Edmund Palmer Chesebro' were sealed. Temple Code:. Salina died on 24 November 1947 at Tulsa, Tulsa Co, Ok.
     As of 11 September 1879,her married name was Chesebro'. 1. Lina insured the Sugarcreek township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania homestead with the Globe & Republic Insurance Company, 216 Fourth Ave, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania policy number 41-262194 for $400.00. The homestead was the estate of her father Matthew Brown.

2. Lina purchased a "General Pershing War Savings Limit Club" savings certificate for $1,000. This was a large expenditure at the time during World War I (ca 1814-18).

3. Sale of timber document with Lina's name shows the apostrophe (1907).

4. Lina Jane's original burial plot deed (#233) was for Brady's Bend Cemetery, Pennsylvania dated June 2, 1917. Edmund Palmer was buried in the Brady's Bend plot but Lina Jane was buried in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

5. Lina's final will, written July 14, 1925 in Tulsa, Oklahoma designated her son, Albert Brown Chesebro' as heir and sole executor. 6. Lina Jane's death certificate issued by the State of Oklahoma confirms birth date, October 3, 1853 and death date, November 24, 1947.

7. 1900 census in shows birth date incorrectly as 1856.

     Sylvia was born at Oxford, Izard Co, Ar, on 22 January 1917. She married Lawrence Edmund "Ed" Chesebro' Sr. at Parrish Of Calcasieu, Calcasieu Co, La, on 16 January 1937. Sylvia was divorced from Lawrence Edmund "Ed" Chesebro' Sr..
     Sylvia's occupation: Bank Teller And Housewife. In an unknown date Sylvia Imogene Rosebrough was a member of Presbyterian. As of 16 January 1937,her married name was Chesebro'. Sylvia Imogene Rosebrough lived at Sylvia Imogene Rosebrough, 5963 South 287th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, 74014 US. Presbyterian.

     Albert was born at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 14 December 1808. He was the son of Ezra Chesebrough and Sally Denison Palmer. He married Phebe Eights Cobb at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 20 December 1832. Albert died on 21 June 1888 at Jersey City (greenville), Hudson Co, Nj.

     Ezra was born at Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY, on 11 July 1836. He was the son of Albert Chesebro' and Phebe Eights Cobb. Ezra died.

     Ezra was born at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 27 December 1769. He married Sally Denison Palmer at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 18 December 1796. Ezra died on 13 February 1838 at Stonington, New London Co, Ct.

     Phebe was born at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 18 April 1814. She was the daughter of Ebeneezer Cobb Jr. and Martha (Patty) Stanton. She married Albert Chesebro' at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 20 December 1832. Phebe died on 18 January 1893 at Jersey City (greenville), Hudson Co, Nj.
     As of 20 December 1832,her married name was Chesebro'. 1. Phebe is a Mayflower descendant (John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley).

     Cornelia was born at Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY, on 16 August 1838. She was the daughter of Albert Chesebro' and Phebe Eights Cobb. She married John D Palmer. Cornelia died after 1902.
     Her married name was Palmer. 1. Cornelia's will was written May 21, 1912 mentioning husband John D. Palmer; nieces Mabel Chesebro, Edna Chesebro, Marion Chesebro, Gertrude Chesebro and Eva Frances Miller; brothers Luke Chesebro, George Chesebro, and Edmund Chesebro; Lina J. Chesebro, Frederic S. Chesebro, Howard C. Miller, Howard C. Chesebro, C. A. Miller, Marion M. Robinson; and witnesses Cecilis Jones and Benjamin Treacy.

     Ebenezer was born at Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY, on 17 August 1841. He was the son of Albert Chesebro' and Phebe Eights Cobb. He married Caroline "Carrie" Louisa Herreshoff in 1866. Ebenezer died on 22 October 1875.

     James was born at Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY, on 1 February 1844. He was the son of Albert Chesebro' and Phebe Eights Cobb. He married Sarah Eldred. James died in April 1893.
     James's occupation: Roofer For His Father's "chesebr in 1869. 1. James lived with and worked for his father in New York City ca 1869. He was listed in the 1869 telephone book as:

"Chesebro James N. roofer, 158 Duane, h E. 123d n Third av."

     Luke was born at Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY, on 30 June 1846. He was the son of Albert Chesebro' and Phebe Eights Cobb. Luke died after 1880 at or near Foxburg, Clarion Co, Pa.
     1. Luke was associated with the Fox Farm Pipeline from 1878 through 1880 in Foxburg, Clarion County, Pennsylvania. He apparently was in Wisconsin ca 1848 where 160 acres of land were purchased in 3 transactions in January.

     George was born at Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, New York City, Kings Co, NY, on 20 July 1850. He was the son of Albert Chesebro' and Phebe Eights Cobb. He married Frances Agusta Amerman on 11 November 1875. George died.
     1. George and his family lived in Brooklyn, NY ca 1903.

2. George became an important man with National Transit, a subsidiary of Standard Oil.

From the "Romance of American Petroleum and Gas" (1914):

"George Chesebro, Secretary and Comptroller of the National Transit Company, was born in the city of New York, July 20th, 1850. He is the son of Albert Chesebro, who was a resident of New York City for many years, although born in Stonington, Conn. in 1808. The elder Mr. Chesebro died in Jersey City in 1888. He was a lineal descendant of William Chesebro, who was born in England in 1594 and came to America in the ship Arabella, which sailed from Cowes, Isle of Wight, on March 30th, 1630. He took a prominent part in founding the Massachusetts Bay Colony and later spending a few years in Rehoboth, Mass., made his permanent home in Stonington, Conn.

The subject of this sketch was educated in the public schools of New York, and was graduated from the College of the City of New York. Soon afterward he entered the law office of Silas B. Bronwell, in Wall Street, but after spending some time endeavoring to fit himself for the Bar he discovered that his tastes lay in the direction of commerce. He then abandoned his studies and entered the employ of S. B. Chittenden & Co., at one time a prominent mercantile firm in New York. Later he connected himself with the firm of A. T. Stewart & Company, spending a number of years as accountant in the woolen mills of that concern. When the firm discontinued the operation of their mill properties in June, 1883, George Chesebro accepted a position with the National Transit Company, at 44 Broadway, New York City. At that time Mr. John Bushnell was Secretary and Comptroller or the Company. Mr. Chesebro, after short service, was appointed Assistant Secretary and Assistant Comptroller and upon the resignation of Bushnell, in 1907, he was appointed to fill the vacancies caused by Mr. Bushnell's resignation from office in the various corporations with which the latter was then identified.

In 1875, Miss Frances Augusta Amerman became the wife of George Chesebro. Their home is now at Belle Harbour, N. Y. There are three children, Mrs. Caspar A. Miller, residing in Foxburg, Pa; Howard Irving, residing in Belle Harbor, N. Y; George Chesebro, Jr., residing in Brooklyn, N. Y.

Mr. Chesebro is a member of the Graduates Club in the City of New York, Society of the Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, and the Belle Harbor Yacht Club."

     Caroline was born at Bristol County, Rhode Island. She married Ebenezer Stanton Cobb Chesebro' in 1866. Caroline died.
     As of 1866,her married name was Chesebro'. 1. Carrie was the daughter of the famous blind yacht and ship builder of Bristol, Rhode Island.

     Sarah was born on 22 October 1841. She married James Noyes Chesebro'. Sarah died after 1903.
     Her married name was Chesebro'.

     Martha was born on 4 March 1772. The Stanton book indicates 1771..³ She was the daughter of Enoch Stanton and Waity Dyer. She married Ebeneezer Cobb Jr. on 12 January 1794.³ Martha died on 6 December 1818.
     As of 12 January 1794,her married name was Cobb.

     Albert Chesebro' was the son of Ebenezer Stanton Cobb Chesebro' and Caroline "Carrie" Louisa Herreshoff.

     Frances was born at New York on 17 July 1853. She married George Cheever Chesebro' Sr. on 11 November 1875. Frances died.

     Eva was born at Glenham, Dutchess Co, Ny, on 1 January 1877. She was the daughter of George Cheever Chesebro' Sr. and Frances Agusta Amerman. Eva died at or near Foxburg, Clarion Co, Pa.

     Howard was born at Glenham, Duchess Co, Ny, on 11 February 1878. He was the son of George Cheever Chesebro' Sr. and Frances Agusta Amerman. Howard died.

     George was born at Glenham, Dutchess Co, Ny, on 17 September 1880. He was the son of George Cheever Chesebro' Sr. and Frances Agusta Amerman. George died.

     John was born on 25 December 1848. He married Cornelia Elizabeth Chesebro'. John died after 1902.

     Ebeneezer was born at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 9 December 1766. He married Martha (Patty) Stanton on 12 January 1794.³ Ebeneezer died on 12 July 1841 at Stonington, New London Co, Ct.

     Enoch Cobb was the son of Ebeneezer Cobb Jr. and Martha (Patty) Stanton.¹ Enoch died.

     Mary Cobb was the daughter of Ebeneezer Cobb Jr. and Martha (Patty) Stanton. She married (?) Goeway PhD in 1826. Mary died.
     As of 1826,her married name was Goeway.

     Ann was born at Stonington, New London Co, Ct, on 18 October 1816. She was the daughter of Ebeneezer Cobb Jr. and Martha (Patty) Stanton.⁴ She married Samuel Edgar Van Tine at New York City, New York Co, Ny, on 18 October 1842. Ann died on 19 May 1894 at New York City, New York Co, Ny.
