Mathews, daughter of Daniel Mathews and Mary P. Bouton, on 16 December 1885. This marriage is my (Brian Bonner) supposition. Almost all Gilbert Stanton references indicate his wife was Bertha. One family tree on Ancestry.com (which is private) indicates his wife was Mary B. Matthews. Checking the Wisconsin marriage records I found two marriages for Gilbert - one in 1885 and one in 1898. So for now I have indicated he married 1) Mary B. Matthews and then 2) Bertha -unknown surname. If you have correcting information please contact me.² Gilbert DeWitt Stanton married Bertha EF Sivers on 12 January 1898 at Racine Co, WI.^2,3 Gilbert DeWitt Stanton died on 11 October 1935 at Antioch, Lake Co., IL. He lived with Bertha in northern Illinois and died there. But he is buried in Wisconsin in the same cemetery as his father Benjamin.^1,4,3
