     James Stanton Treat was born on 27 August 1806 at Clinton, CT.. He was the son of James Treat and Mary Stanton. James Stanton Treat married Frances A. Witter, daughter of Amos Witter, on 17 September 1824. A handwritten note in Brian Bonner's copy of the Stanton book says "not in Washburn". I believe this refers to a researcher of the Witter family. Also, the Stanton book indicates in one instance the marriage was in 1824 and in another 1829. She was of Plainfield, CT. James Stanton Treat married Lydia Mott Witter, daughter of Amos Witter, on 19 November 1839. James Stanton Treat died on 17 April 1855.
      He had large cotton mills in Voluntown, Conn.

     Abby Stanton was born 1790's at Kingston, RI.. She was the daughter of Joseph Stanton and (?) Cross. Abby Stanton married Samuel Adams Coy, son of Jonathan Woodbury Coy, in March 1814 at Kingston, RI. Abby Stanton died. At age 72 years, 5 months.
      As of March 1814,her married name was Coy.
