     William was born at Stoninton, Conn, on 24 August 1827. He was baptized. Religion:. He was the son of Azariah Stanton and Mercy W. Williams. He married Lucy Ann Brown at Cortland, Ny, on 2 April 1850. William died on 13 April 1873. His body was interred in 1873 at Jersey City Heights at N.Y. Bay Cemetery.
     William was a painter and a decorator; in religion, an Epicopalian, and in politics a Democrat. He served as a soldier in the Civil War, and was disabled thereby. He had several children, not enumerated, who died in infancy.

     Gilbert was born at Attica, Wyoming Co., Ny. He was the son of Oliver L. Stanton Jr. and Sophia Bugbee. He married Matilda Lord on 26 September 1848. He married Ann Eliza Shurger on 16 April 1854. Gilbert died on 1 May 1898. His body was interred at Oak Grove Cemetery.
     He resided in 1888. The William Stanton book lists his name as Gilbert L. Stanton in his father's family group but lists it as Gilbert I. in his own family group. He was a Methodist and a Republican.
