David was educated and made a special study of higher mathematics, navigation, and surveying. FRom 1810 he was agent for the sale of lands in the vicinity of Canaan for Phildephia grantors, who had acquired titles to the land through loans of money to finance the Revolutionary War. His mathematical training brought him the business of surveying most of the farms in this vicinity. He laid out and named the town of Waymart, and did much surveying for the D & H Company. For many years he served as Justice of the Peace, and as Associate Judge of the county. Although not a doctor he was in great demand for his medical services.

     Thomas was born at Preston, New London, CT, on 26 November 1787.¹ He was the son of Rev. Samuel West and Jerusha Stanton. He was baptized at New London, Conn, in February 1803.       As of 24 March 1811,her married name was West. Rebecca and Michael set out for Pennsylvania 17 Feb. 1813 to settle land purchased from Michael's father Rev. West. They settled in Clifford township, Susquehanna Co., Pennsylvania wherethey are found on the 1820 U.S. Federal census. After Rebecca's death, Michael remained in Pennsylvania and he is found these on the 1830, 1840, and 1850 censuses.²

     Asa was born at Paupack Co., PA. He was the son of Col. Asa Stanton and Keziah (Desire) Kimball. He married Rhoda Bartlett on 14 September 1820. He married Desire Ainsley in April 1847. He married Lydia Pascoe on 10 May 1865. Asa died on 5 September 1881.
      Asa lived on the farm of his father near Waymart, PA., until his death. This land is now (1897) occupied by his children - Fitz Henry, Samuel, and Lucy. He and his brother Charles were famous hunters. They were well-known pioneers of Wayne Co.

     Sarah Stanton was born on 22 January 1797 at Waymart, Wayne Co., Pennsylvania.. She was the daughter of Col. Asa Stanton and Keziah (Desire) Kimball. She married Leonard Starkweather on 29 February 1816. Sarah Stanton died on 12 November 1847.
