First Generation

1. Isaac George1 Brader Sr was born in Lincolnshire, England 21 Jun 1819. Isaac died 22 Feb 1889 in Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., Wisconsin. Glorya Welch indicates died 1899. Brian Bonner indicates died 1889.

He married twice. He married Joanna Burke 13 Oct 1840 in Lincolnshire, England. Joanna was born 1818 in England. The LDS Ancestral File indicates born April 1822 in England. No evidence cited.

He married Margaret McCord Jan 1872. In the Census of Isaac was listed as a head of household in Augusta, Oneida Co., New York. In the Census of 1860, Isaac was listed as a head of household in Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., Wisconsin. He and his wife left England sometime between 1847 and 1850. In 1855 they moved from Oneida Co, NY to Dane Co., WI. In Mt. Vernon Isaac owned the mill, a store, some farms, and was postmaster. The LDS Ancestral File indicates his name was George Issic Brader and he was born in Scamblessley, England. No evidence cited.

Isaac George Brader Sr and Joanna Burke had the following children:

  • 2 i. Elizabeth2 Brader was born in England 14 Jan 1842. Elizabeth died 13 Jun 1898 in Jordan Township, Monona Co., Iowa. Her body was interred in Jordan Township, Monona Co., Iowa. She married Henry Jason Ash. Henry was born in the 1840's. His body was interred in Jordan Township, Monona Co., Iowa. (See Henry Jason Ash for the continuation of this line.)
  • 3 ii. Mary Brader was born in England 17 Nov 1843. Glorya Welch indicates birth in 1844. Mary died 14 Dec 1914. She married twice. She married Ball. She married Allen.
  • + 4 iii. Isaac George Brader Jr was born 6 Apr 1846.
  • + 5 iv. Alfred Cyrus Brader was born 30 Nov 1847.
  • 6 v. Eliza Brader was born in Oriskany Falls, Oneida Co., New York 11 Jan 1850. Eliza died 28 Aug 1916 Shenandoah, Page, Iowa. Her body was interred Shenandoah, Page, Iowa. She married twice. She married John Rea [Jr.] 12 Jun 1872 home of I. G. Brader Sr. in Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., Wisconsin. John was born 4 Mar 1845 in Slabtown, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of John J. Rea and Ellen G. Craick. He resided in Jordan Township, Monona Co., Iowa 1875. When the family came to Jordan township they paid $7 an acre.

    John died 25 Mar 1891 in Soldier (Jordan township), Monona Co., Iowa. His son Alex, indicated that John suffered from a bone infection as a result of a wound received in Indian skirmishes after the Civil War. He was advised to have his leg amputated but refused. He ultimately died of a stroke. (See John Rea [Jr.] for the continuation of this line.)

    She married James H. Moore 5 Dec 1893 in Jordan Township, Monona Co., Iowa. LDS Ancestral File has an entry indicating married 5 Dec 1895. No evidence cited.

    James was born 11 Mar 1849 in Pittsburgh, Alleghany Co., Pennsylvania. He was the son of Thomas Moore and Jemima Martin. James died 25 Feb 1914 Shenandoah, Page, Iowa. She resided in Allen, Dixon Co., Nebraska 1898. The following individual is also linked to this event: Alex Rea (child). When Alex was 14 he had an appendicitis operation at his mothers.

    Eliza weighed 185 pounds; was 4-feet 9-inches tall.

  • 7 vi. Alice Brader was born in Oriskany Falls, Oneida Co., New York 17 May 1853. Glorya Welch indicates birth was in Augusta, Oneida Co., NY. Alice died 9 Feb 1938 in Berthoud, Larimer Co., Colorado. She married Ole E. Strand 7 Aug 1880 in Onawa, Monona Co., Iowa. Ole was born 8 Aug 1845 Norway. He was the son of Erick O. Strand and Lena Holvorson. Ole immigrated to 1856. When Ole was age unknown and Nettie Thoreson was age unknown they became the parents of Nettie Strand before Oct 1879. When Ole was age unknown and Nettie Thoreson was age unknown they became the parents of Anna Strand before Oct 1879. When Ole was age unknown and Nettie Thoreson was age unknown they became the parents of ? Strand before Oct 1879. (See Ole E. Strand for the continuation of this line.) In 1876 Alice went to Monona County, Iowa to visit her sisters Eliza and Elizabeth. She stayed and married four years later to Ole Strand, a widower.
  • 8 vii. Adalaide Brader was born in Oriskany Falls, Oneida Co., New York 29 Aug 1854. Adalaide died 6 Sep 1854.
  • 9 viii. Adelaide Brader was born in Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., Wisconsin 7 Oct 1856. Adelaide died 3 Sep 1857 in Mt. Vernon, Dane Co., Wisconsin.
  • + 10 ix. Thomas Richard Brader was born 1 May 1858.
  • Isaac George Brader Sr and Margaret McCord had the following child:

  • 11 x. Sovina Brader was born Sep 1872. Faily tradition is that she married a Mr. Allen who became Governor of Kansas. However the wife's name is also given as Margaret. See Margaret Brader.
