89. Richard V.8 Van Hoesen (Jeramiah7, Cornelis6, Nicolas5, Jan Jurrian4, Jurrian Janse3, Jan Franse2, Francis1) was born in Hornby, Greene Co., NY 25 Jul 1813. Richard died 2 Jul 1894 in Hornby, Greene Co., NY. His body was interred Valley View Cemetery in Hornby Forks, NY.

He married Rachel Jemina Van Hoesen. Rachel was born 6 Sep 1816 in Cortland Co., NY. She was the daughter of Gerret Van Hoesen IV and Ladonna Madonna Van Buskirk. Rachel died 15 Aug 1883. Her body was interred Valley View Cemetery in Hornby Forks, NY. Richard purchased his Hornby property 11 October 1865. He was a blacksmith, a very large man. His anvil is owned by Charles Robert Stanton of Hurnby (1981). Richard also was the Justic of the Peace in Hornby.

  • 108 ii. Mary Christina Van Hoesen was born in New York 1838. Mary died 10 Dec 1915. She married Ogilvie Mortimer Morse 24 Dec 1857 in Union Co., PA.
  • 109 iii. Helen Delana Van Hoesen was born in Preble, Cortland County, NY 1842. Helen died 1913 in Preble, Cortland County, NY. She married Myron C. Eddy.
  • 110 iv. Angeline Melissa Van Hoesen was born in Ogdensburg, Tioga Co., PA 19 Jan 1848. Angeline died 9 Oct 1922 in Elmira, NY. She married Andrew J. Dann 26 Sep 1865 in Union Co., PA.
  • 111 v. Melissa Ann Van Hoesen was born in Union, Tioga Co., PA 13 Aug 1850. Melissa died 14 Dec 1925 in Oakdale, Antelope Co., Nebraska. Her body was interred in Castana, Monona Co., Iowa. She married Lawson Jay Stanton 12 Oct 1871 in Hornby, Steuben County, New York. Lawson was born 25 Mar 1840 in Hornby, Steuben County, New York. He was the son of John Tracy Stanton and Salina Vossler. Lawson died 31 May 1914 in Belvidere, Monona Co, IA. It should be noted that his tombstone says he died 1 June 1914 but in his Civil War pension file are several sworn statements including one from the attending physician that the death was actually 31 May 1914 and the death record was corrected.

    His funeral was held 1914 in Turin, Monona Co., Iowa. He was a founder of this church.

    His body was interred in Castana, Monona Co., Iowa. (See Lawson Jay Stanton for the continuation of this line.) Her funeral was held 1925 in Turin, Monona Co., Iowa. She was one of the founding members of the Methodist Church in Turin, IA.

  • 112 vi. Fred Van Hoesen was born 5 May 1858. Fred died 12 Mar 1862 in Hornby, Greene Co., NY.
