He married Margaret (Margaretha) E. Rea in Springdale, Wisconsin, 17 Jun 1863. Margaret was born in Charleston, Forfarshire, Scotland 15 May 1840. Margaret was the daughter of John J. Rea and Ellen G. Craick. Margaret died 3 Feb 1925. Her body was interred in Eugene, Lane Co., Oregon, Pioneer Cemetery.
