4. Rev. John² Prentice (Thomas¹) was born Newton, Mass 1682. John died 6 January 1748.

He married twice. He married Mary ??. Mary died 9 Mar 1719. He married Prudence Frost. Prudence died 1765. Pastor of the Congregational Church in Lancaster, Mass. from 1705 until his death. His first wife, Mrs. Mary Gardiner, was the widow of his predecessor.

Rev. John Prentice and Mary ?? had the following children:

6 i. Thomas³ Prentice.

7 ii. John Prentice.

8 iii. Mary Prentice. She married Rev. Job Cushing March 1727. i0 Pastor at Shrewsbury, Mass.

9 iv. Elizabeth Prentice. She married twice. She married Daniel Robbins. She married Capt. Curtis. Of Worcester, Mass.

10 v. Stanton Prentice was born Lancaster, Mass 1711. Stanton died 1769. An eminent physician.

11 vi. Sarah Prentice was born Lancaster, Ma about 1719. She married twice. She married Dr. Smith. Handwritten note in the margin of the Stanton book indicates they "six children, not named".

She married Col. Levi Brigham. Levi was born 1716. Levi was the son of David Brigham. Levi died 1 Feb 1787. (See Col. Levi Brigham for the continuation of this line.)

Rev. John Prentice and Prudence Frost had the following children:

12 vii. Prudence Prentice. She married Josiah Brown. i0 A graduate of Harvard University.

13 viii. Relief Prentice. She married Rev. John Rogers 1750. i0 Of Leominster, Mass.

14 ix. Rebecca Prentice was born Lancaster, Mass 22 September 1727. Rebecca died 11 Jan 1802 Hanover, Mass. She married Rev. John Mellen. John was born 14 March 1722. John died 4 Jul 1807 Reading, Mass.. At the home of his daughter, the widow of Rev. Caleb Prentice. (See Rev. John Mellen for the continuation of this line.)
