He married Helen Marguerite Berry 6 Jul 1921.(3093) Helen was born in Fort McHenry, Maryland 14 Jan 1897.(3094) Stanton Garner indicates also that she was born 6 Jan 1897. Helen was the daughter of Lucien Grant Berry and Emily Ross Minier.

Helen died 17 Mar 1982 in Palo Alto, CA.(3095) She was a student in Troy, NY, mid 1900's. School: Emma Willard's Finishing School.(3096) She resided in Corning, NY 1930.(3097) When the 1930 stock market collapse reduced the Edward Garner family close to destitution, Lucien and Emily sent for Helen and her two children, Edward and Stanton, who came to stay with them for temporary shelter. However that arrangement became permanent when Edward Garner, Senior was unable to recover and sought a divorce.

Helen was divorced from Edward Samuel Garner Jr. sometime between 1930 and 1940.(3098)

Edward was divorced from Helen Marguerite Berry sometime between 1930 and 1940.(3099) He served in World War I as a Missouri National Guard artillery officer, in General Berry's brigade. Afterward, he became a regular army officer but resigned in 1922 when he inherited his family's wealth. After losing his fortune in the depression, he was forced in 1930 to send his family to New York to live with General and Mrs. Berry. Not being able to recover financially, he divorced Helen in the early 1930s.
