2. John² Rockwell (John¹) was born in Shipstead, England about 1585. John died 10 May 1662 in Windsor (?rye, Ny). His body was interred in Bur. Rye, Ny Cemetery.

He married Wilmet Cade in Fitzhead, England, 1619. Wilmet was born in Fitzhead, Somerset, England 1587.

He was christened in Baptized Fitzhead, Somerset, England, 5 Jul 1588. He was baptized in To America - Ship "speedwell", 1635. Religion:. "We are descended from John Rockwell, a sturdy Puritan, born in Shipstead, England about 1600, who at the age of thirty crossed the ocean in order in a new land to worship God according to the dictates of his own conscience. He was one of the founders of Watertown, Massachusetts and a little later of Wethersfield and Stamford, CT. He died in Rye, NY in 1676 in ripe old age. Should you chance to go that way you find his grave in the oldest part of the Rye Cemetery.
