He married Mary Elizabeth Castle 8 Apr 1865. Mary was born 20 Mar 1847. Mary was the daughter of George Hastings Castle and Harriet Oliver. Mary died 10 Nov 1921.

John Holland Barney and Mary Elizabeth Castle had the following children:
