He resided in Barnerville, Schoharie County, Ny. The Brownells lived next door to Grandma (of Eldon) Stanton in Barnerville.

James Brownell and Phylena Stanton had the following children:

3 ii. Frank Brownell was born est. 1866-1893. Frank died EST 1896. He married Maude Doty est. 1894-1896. Maude was born 1880. Maude died 1952.

+ 4 iii. Lyman Brownell was born eat. 1866-1894.

5 iv. Rose Brownell was born est. 1866-1894. Rose died est. 1871-1977.
