He married Rowena Beebe in McDonough, NY, Apr 1858. Rowena was born in McDonough, NY 12 Feb 1834. Rowena⁽⁴⁵⁰¹⁾ was the daughter of Joseph Ledyard Beebe and Betsey Curtis. Rowena died 15 Dec 1915 in Mt. Pleasant, IA.

James Throop and Rowena Beebe had the following children:

+ 15 iv. Horace Leander Throop was born 5 Feb 1865.

16 v. Jesse Nelson Throop⁽⁴⁵⁰⁴⁾ was born 6 Aug 1867. Jesse died 31 Oct 1871.

+ 17 vi. Thomas Dwight Throop was born 2 Feb 1870.

+ 18 vii. Addison James Throop was born 16 Jun 1876.

19 viii. Bessie Cordelia Throop⁽⁴⁵⁰⁵⁾ was born in Mt. Pleasant, IA 15 Jul 1878. Bessie died 1962 in Butte, MT.
