The Society was formalized at the Stanton family's 1995 Summer reunion, to honor the life and work of Thomas Stanton. Stanton was a founder of Stonington, Connecticut who helped mold its size, shape, and general character, who forged a society that preserved and advanced the best of European culture while respecting the needs and desires of the local Indian population.
The purpose of the organization is to bring together widely spread family members into a social fellowship that can enjoy the local history of that part of Americas which became the bedrock for the future Federal Government. By studying Thoms Stanton and his compatriots, then viewing their memorials, one can actually feel the sense of history and is energy.
Plans will be laid over time to preserve and restore the Stanton homestead and surrounding lands on the Stanton-Davis Farm on Pawcatuck River.
The membership fee is $10.00. To join, contact the Society President by mail. The Society does not yet accept membership applications via email.
