     Samuel Stanton was born on 10 April 1771 at Charlestown, RI.. He was the son of Samuel Stanton and Sarah Browning. He married Elizabeth Reynolds at South Kingston, RI, on 11 April 1799. Samuel Stanton died on 23 January 1855 at Stonington, CT.
     He was the Town Clerk of Charlestown, R.I. for over forty years. The farm on which he lived in Charlestown, RI was in 1858 the only remaining portion which had never been owned out of the Stanton family (Joseph's branch). It was transmitted from father to son from Thomas the first settler.

     Samuel Stanton was baptized on 6 January 1760 at Presbyterian church, Westerly, RI. He was the son of Capt. Daniel Stanton and Elizabeth Brown. He married Sarah Browning. Samuel Stanton died before 1764. The Stanton book says "is dead in 1764".
     18 April 1762 he was admonished for going to Watch Hill in Westerly, RI, and getting drunk. 13 May 1761 Sarah and her sister-in-law Abigail (married to Samuel's brother Joseph) have a quarrel and John's family are out with Sarah. Abigail is dismissed from the Presbyterian church in Westerly.

He married Emma Bessie Storie at Binghampton, Ny, on 23 December 1910. Clarence died on 5 November 1973 two heart attacks a week apart at St. Clare's Hospital at Schenectady, Schenectady, NY.

Emma Bessie Storie

     Emma was born at ? Conesville, Schoharie County, Ny, on 16 August 1888. She married Clarence Erwin Stanton at Binghampton, Ny, on 23 December 1910. Emma died on 14 September 1979 had a stroke shortly before at Baptist Retirement Center at Scotia, Ny.
     As of 23 December 1910,her married name was Stanton. I (Eldon Stanton) have several class cards from the scool where Emma & Effie attended grade school, listing all their classmates. William Humphrey Hoose and Clarence Erwin Stanton boarded with Melvin Eckerson at 854 Eastern Ave. When Clarence was about fifteen years old, or about 1905. Clarence worked for American Locomotive for about six months, and ran a restaurant nights at 308 State Street, opposite Wall Street, for Olney Redmond for about six months. I believe Olney Redmond ran a gas station behind the masonic temple, until the Bank or Kem's cleaners took the place over. Clarence also attended shows at the old Van Curler theater, where I. B. M. And Metropolitan Insurance hang out on Franklin street. He went to bible school in Binghamton, where he met and married my mother, Emma Storie. Clarence was also a preacher at the Pilgrim Holiness Church on Euclid Ave for a year, and a salesman on the road, before he became a milling machine operator for GE, and he lived in a house at 381 6th street with three apartments to rent.
From 1921 to around 1951 when dad retired and moved to 49 Colonial Gardens out Guilderland Ave. After two or three years there he moved to West Palm Beach, Florida for fourteen years before coming home to Schenectady. He's buried at Memory Gardens in the family plot.

     Frederick was born on 3 March 1886. He was the son of David Sherman Stanton and Hannah I. Hoose. He married Mabel Louise Kniskern on 27 March 1907. Frederick died on 19 March 1952.
     Made his living peddling clothes & shoes to farmers. Clarence did the same for a time. Leroy ran the store in Barnerville and took and delivered orders for groceries from farmers on the road. Leroy and Lillian lived next to the store and had an outhouse. He also lived in grandma Stanton's house for a while. Grandma Stanton also had an outhouse when I was growing up. Lester lived at home with his mother when he wasn't in Binghamton. Charlotte also lived with grandma to look after her when she got old.

     Charlotte was born at Schoharie, Ny 12157, on 3 March 1906. She was the daughter of David Sherman Stanton and Hannah I. Hoose. She married Walter Vroman Edwards. She married Albert Cossart. Charlotte died in December 1978.
     Her married name was Cossart. Her married name was Edwards. I (Eldon Stanton) think Charlotte worked in the lab at a milk plant when she was younger. She and Esther France were great friends. Charlotte was in a nursing home for several years before she died.
