4. James3 Rae (Henry2, David1)(3840) was born in Thornton, Glamis Parish, Scotland, U.k. 10 Oct 1789. James died 8 Oct 1873 in North Lake, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin.

He married Barbara Gibson abt 1812. Barbara was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 7 Jul 1792. Barbara was the daughter of Thomas Gibson. Barbara died 8 Oct 1873 in Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. Her body was interred in Hartland, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin, Bark River Cemetery. The cemetery is located at Highway K and Merton Avenue, Hartland, WI 53209.

He was baptized in Glamis, Forfarshire, Scotland. Religion:. He resided in Glammmis, Forfarshire, Scotland Dec 1834. A census listed James as head of household in Willies, Glammis Parish, Forfarshire, Scotland, 1841. Robert Gibson 45, James Gibson 40, and Margaret Rea 20 are all living near the James Rea family.

He took an oath of allegiance in Milwaukee Co., Territory of Wisconsin, 19 Jul 1844.(3841) Most of his children left Merton Township in Waukehsa Co., Wisconsin, but his son Thomas lived out his life there.

child 11 i. Agnes4 Rea was born in Hayston, Glammis Parish, Scotland 18 Mar 1813. She married twice. She married Alexander Martin. Alexander was born in Inverity, Forfarshire, Scotland 1809. He resided in Charleston, Forfarshire, Scotland 1851. (See Alexander Martin for the continuation of this line.) She married an unknown person 18 Sep 1841. Family stories say Agnes dame to the United States, but returned to Scotland. Glorya Welch did not find any record of her in Waukesha Co., WI.

child 13 iii. James Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 1815.

child 14 iv. Margaret Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 2 Jan 1818. Margaret died 8 Oct 1901 in Merton, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. She married David Allerdice in Glamis, Forfarshire, Scotland, 18 Sep 1841. David was born in Plans Of Cossans, Glammis Parish, Forfarshire, Scotland 12 Oct 1817. David was the son of John Allerdice. David died 30 Apr 1855 in Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. In the Census of 1850, David Allerdice was listed as a head of household in Merton, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. child 16 vi. Marjory Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 6 Feb 1823. She married Notbohn.

child 17 vii. Barbara Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 11 Jan 1826. Barbara died 31 Oct 1875 in Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. She married Gideon Russell in Summit Township, Waukesha Co., Wisconsin, 8 Mar 1849. Gideon was born in Ohio 1824. Gideon was the son of William Russell and Clarissa Howard. In the Census of 1870, Gideon Russell was listed as a head of household in Wisconsin. (See Gideon Russell for the continuation of this line.)

child 18 viii. Elizabeth Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 1 May 1828. Elizabeth died 1907 in Waukesha Co., Wisconsin. Her body was interred in Waukesha Co., Wisconsin, Stone Bank Presbyterian Cemetery. She married Abner Dayton. Abner was born 1821. Abner died 1899. child 19 ix. Jean Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 16 Apr 1830. Jean died 19 Aug 1835 in Glamis, Forfarshire, Scotland.

child 20 x. George Rea was born 7 Mar 1833.

child 21 xi. Mary Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 17 Jun 1835. Mary died Feb 1856. She married Charles J. Strohn 1854. Charles was born about 1835. (See Charles J. Strohn for the continuation of this line.)

child 22 xii. Jean Rea was born in Arnyfoul, Glamis Parish, Scotland 29 Apr 1838. Jenny died before 1919. She married William Goodman. William was born in Connecticut 1834. William died before 1900. (See William Goodman for the continuation of this line.) Jean made a quilt cover that is now in the possession of Mrs. K. McCollough of Oklahoma City, OK. The quilt was probably made about 1860. Each square has a family name in it - Rea and those of William Goodman's family, and friends. The quilt top was originally given to Virginia Olsen by Esther Rea (1884-1955) who received it from Mrs. Fred (Eunice) Beaumont. It is typical of "album" quilts made in the middle 1800's which were incribed or embroidered with the owner's name. Names without Mr. or Mrs. were unmarried or minors.
