He married Martha Niles Coeymans, Albany Co., NY, 21 December 1813. Martha was born Coeymans, Albany Co., NY 21 November 1794. Martha was the daughter of Henry Niles. Martha died 24 August 1883 in Ionia, Michigan.

890 v. Rufus D. Stanton was born in Durham, Greene Co., NY 12 December 1826. Rufus died 2 February 1858 in Rockton, Ill. He was a lawyer and practiced in Belvidere, IL from 1856 until his last illness. He was a Mason and an Odd Fellow.
