He married Josephine Mehitable Abbott in Moultonboro, NH, 25 Jan 1900.⁽³²¹⁸⁾ Josephine was born in Moultonboro, NH 21 Sep 1877.⁽³²¹⁹⁾ Josephine died 4 Mar 1915 in Moultonboro, NH.⁽³²²⁰⁾ Shedied giving birth to Carroll Goodhue. He was adopted that same year and became Carroll Goodhue Hunnewell. After his wife Josephine's death, John may have remarried, possibly once or twice more. Unknown if there were children from those marriages.
