     Warren J. Stanton was born on 8 April 1836 at Trenton, NY..1 He was the son of Elias Stanton and Nancy Davis. He married Maria E. Merill on 18 March 1856. She was of Whitestown, NY.1 Warren J. Stanton died in 1864. In that year he was either killed in the Civil War, or captured and died in prison, as he was never heard from after that year.1
     He was in business in Rockford, Ill., for some years between 1850 and 1860. He enlisted as a soldier in the Civil War and ranked as a Lieutenant.1
