Peter was born in Alscace-Lorraine region of what is now France in Feb of 1836. The U.S. Federal Census of 1900 states he immigrated to the U.S. in 1862. Notes from the grandmother of Kurt Laufenburger said that he stayed in NY for the first few years and ran a saloon. He moved to PA and bought a farm on Fox Hill in Pine Grove. She also said he wasn't much of a farmer and paid to have everything done for him. Kurt has a book on gthe history of Pine Groce which says he bought some land from Donly in May of 1864.

Elizabeth was born in New York in 1840. Her maiden name was Schieler. And her mother, Christina, is listed as the head ofr the family in the U.S. Federal Census of 1850 (NY, NY, 16th Ward, page 191).² Magdelena had a sister Christina (also Christena). She was born Sep 1874 in Orchard Park,, NY. She married Henry Lauffenburger and eight children. The first three died within months of birth. Then she had five who all eventually married. She died giving birth to her eighth child, Johnny. She died 26 Apr 1907 in Pine Grove, PA and is buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery.²
