411. Freeman¹⁰ Stanton (John⁹, Daniel⁸, John⁷, Capt John⁶, Thomas⁵, Thomas⁴, Thomas³, John², Thomas¹) was born in Charlestown, Montgomery Co., Ny 11 Mar 1796.⁽⁴²⁶⁶⁾ Freeman died 3 Jul 1870 Middleburgh, Schoharie Co., Ny.⁽⁴²⁶⁷⁾

He married Maria Lawyer 3 Aug 1820.⁽⁴²⁶⁸⁾ Maria was born 3 Apr 1798.⁽⁴²⁶⁹⁾ Maria was the daughter of Abraham Lawyer and Katharine Reddick. Maria died 3 May 1869.⁽⁴²⁷⁰⁾ Became a merchant in Middleburgh, Schoharie Co., NY. After a successful business career, in 1841 he retired to his large farm near the village, where he lived until his death. Among Freeman Stanton's most intimate friends were ex Gov. Bouck and General Cady. Gov. Bouck would not accept the U.S. Treasuryship at New York, until Mr. Stanton consented to go with him.

Freeman Stanton and Maria Lawyer had the following children:

772 i. Charlotte Cady¹¹ Stanton was born 7 Sep 1834.⁽⁴²⁷¹⁾ Charlotte died 15 Nov 1906 in White Wood, SD.⁽⁴²⁷²⁾ She married James Foland. No issue.

She resided Penn's Grove, Salem Co., Nj 1891.

773 ii. Abraham L. Stanton was born 16 Oct 1824.⁽⁴²⁷³⁾ He married Sabina M. Bouck 6 Dec 1845.⁽⁴²⁷⁴⁾

774 iii. Louisa C. Stanton was born 9 Apr 1826.⁽⁴²⁷⁵⁾ The Sarah Stanton Kniskern manuscript refers to Louisa as "Louisa K.". Louisa died 26 Mar 1882.⁽⁴²⁷⁶⁾ Unmarried.

775 iv. Jay Cady Stanton was born 23 Mar 1828.⁽⁴²⁷⁷⁾ Jay died 8 Sep 1862.⁽⁴²⁷⁸⁾ Killed in battle. Unmarried.

776 v. John L. Stanton was born 26 Apr 1830.⁽⁴²⁷⁹⁾ John died 29 Jul 1877.⁽⁴²⁸⁰⁾ He married Delia L. Borst 8 Sep 1858.⁽⁴²⁸¹⁾

777 vi. Charlotte Cady Stanton was born 30 Oct 1822.⁽⁴²⁸²⁾ Charlotte died 4 Aug 1828.⁽⁴²⁸³⁾

778 vii. Sarah Ann Stanton was born 16 Oct 1836.⁽⁴²⁸⁴⁾ Sarah died 6 Nov 1894.⁽⁴²⁸⁵⁾ She married Barent P. Kniskern 24 May 1862.⁽⁴²⁸⁶⁾ Barent was born 25 Jan 1825.⁽⁴²⁸⁷⁾ Barent died 29 Jan 1890.⁽⁴²⁸⁸⁾ (See Barent P. Kniskern for the continuation of this line.)

779 viii. Helen A. H. Stanton was born 21 Dec 1839.⁽⁴²⁸⁹⁾ The Sarah Stanton Kniskern manuscript refers to her as "Hellen". She married Andrew McHench 25 Oct 1864.⁽⁴²⁹⁰⁾

780 ix. George S. Stanton was born 26 May 1821.⁽⁴²⁹¹⁾ George died 17 Apr 1900 New Haven, Conn.⁽⁴²⁹²⁾ He married Julia Hallenbeck 20 Aug 1851.⁽⁴²⁹³⁾

781 x. Alonzo P. Stanton was born 28 Jun 1832.⁽⁴²⁹⁴⁾ Alonzo died 24 Sep 1885 Woodlawn, Ca.⁽⁴²⁹⁵⁾ Unmarried.
