He married twice. He married Helen Jane Nichoson in Lawrenceville, Tioga Co., PA, 16 Dec 1852. Helen was born in Albion, NY 20 Apr 1831. Helen was the daughter of Dr. Orson Nichoson and Lucy Morris. Helen died 12 May 1862 in Madison, Jefferson Co., Ind. Her body was interred in Albion, NY. Her failing health after the birth of her son made a change necessary and several years were spent in travel, chiefly in the south.
He married Anna Beers 8 Sep 1863. Anna was born in Madison, Ind 27 Jun 1839. Anna was the daughter of Seth Smith Beers and Elmira Badger. She resides in Madison, Ind. before 1863.
