     Foster Milliken was born on 14 August 1892 at New York City, NY.1 He was the son of Foster Milliken and Louise Ward.1 Foster Milliken married Elsa Carroll on 24 April 1920.1 Foster Milliken married Virginia Scully on 19 January 1935.1 Foster Milliken married Alice Farrington Flynn on 11 April 1942.1 Ws engaged in numerous businesses. He was Vice PResdient of McNad and Harlin Mfg. Cr. as well as Traffic Signal Corp. and President of Aterite Co. He served as Private in the 1st Armored Motor Battery during the Mexican Border trouble; in World War I with Setion 22 of the American Red Cross attached to the French Army and later with the Aemrican Expeditionary Force as 2nd Lieutenant with the 115th Field Artillery, 55th Brigade, 30th Division. On his return from service he was shipwrecked on Fire Island. Foster served as Mayor and Municipal Judge of Ocean Ridge, Palm Beach County, Florida. He was a member of the vestry of Bethesday-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, of St. Lukes in East Hampton, N.Y. and Grace Church in Camden, S.C. He served as Vice President and Director of the Childre's Home of Kershaw County, S.C.1

     Foster Milliken was born on 9 May 1865 at Plainfield, NJ. Handwritten in the book is the notation Brooklyn, N.Y.1 He was the son of Samuel Milliken and Hattie Levis Fullerton.1 Foster Milliken married Louise Ward, daughter of James Monroe Ward and Louisa Clymer Overton, on 18 September 1888.1 Foster Milliken married Antoinette Knapp, daughter of Joseph Fairchild Knapp, on 11 April 1911. Foster was in the same business as Antoinette's first husband Edward Wallace. Ken Spooner cites as his source their wedding announcement.1,2 Foster Milliken died on 18 June 1945 at age 80.1 In 1882 he entered his father's business, Milliken, Smith and Co., but on the dissolution of the firm in 1889, he and his brother, Edward Fullerton Milliken, founded Milliken Bros who continued as agents of the Phoenix Iron Works. Shortly thereafter, the firm also began to take structural contracts. The business developed so rapidly that the agency was given up. In succession two small plants were erected in Brooklyn only to be superceded by a very large one on Staten Island. Branch offices were worldwide. Notable structures erected by Milliken Bros. were: American Tobacco Co. in Havana, Cuba, Barney Barnata building in Johannesburg, South Africa, National Theatre in Mexico City, Mexico, Singer building in New York City, Commercial Cable Co. Station on Midway Island etc., etc. Later Foster was in turn President of McNab and Harlin Mfg. Co; Chairman of the board of Aterite Co, and President of Milliken Valve Corp. His inventions were numerous, included 43 U.S. patents, ranging from electric poles and transmission towers, to traffic signals and valves.1

     Ruth Milliken was born on 15 December 1894 at New York City, NY.1 She was the daughter of Foster Milliken and Louise Ward.1 Ruth Milliken married Robert Thruston Houk on 18 September 1915.1 Ruth Milliken died.1 She married George Haig on 4 December 1937.1 Shortly after her marriage she moved to Dayton, Ohio. For two terms of a year each, she served as President of the Junior League and also of the Woman’s Auxiliary of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was appointed Executive Secretary of the Woman's Crusade and of the Dayton Community Chest for one year and Recording Secretary of the Dayton Garden Club for two years. Other civic boards of which she was a member included the Dayton Symphony.1

     Foster Milliken was born on 24 April 1794.1 He was the son of Samuel Milliken and Margaret Foster.1 Foster Milliken married Agnes Thompson, daughter of Moses Thompson and Lydia Adams, on 17 June 1819.1 Foster Milliken lived at an unknown place . Was a general merchant and iron master, also Sheriff of Miflin County, Pennsylvania.1 He died on 31 March 1831 at age 36. Death year is also given as 1832.1

     Alexander Fullerton was born on 24 September 1796.1 He was the son of Alexander Fullerton and Mary Hall.1 Alexander Fullerton married Sarah Ash Crukshank, daughter of James Crukshank and Hester Ash, on 4 May 1830.1 Alexander Fullerton died on 12 May 1868 at age 71.1 Alexander Fullerton and Sarah Ann Crukshank, after their marriage, lived on the North side of Filbert Street, a few doors above 9th. Here their oldest child Hettie (sp.) Levis Fullerton was born, This and the adjoining house was owned by Alexander Fullerton; he keeping the other wit his daughter Mrs. Erskine Hazard (Mary Fullerton) and her family. It was soon thought advisable to procure larger quarters and, from the Pennsylvania Hospital, land was purchased on Spruce Street between 7th and 8th, which had been used as a cow pasture. There the brothers-in-law built houses which were among the first in the city in which gas was introduced. The Fullertons entered their new home in 1835, the number being 264 Spruce (later changed to 710). Here were born successively, Alexander, Edward, Marshall, Spencer and Mary Fullerton and later, Edward F. the oldest child of Samuel Milliken and Hettie (sp.) Levis Fullerton and still later Mary Sarah and Helen Fullerton Weaver, children of James B. Weaver and Mary Fullerton. Here died Alexander Fullerton and Sarah Ash Crukshank, the owners of the house, also little Mary Weaver.1

     Came to Susquehanna, Pa., a year in advance of his father having been persuaded to do so by his brother-in-law, Benajamin Doolittle. On arriving he erected one of the first frame dwellings in that part of the country.1 William Ward was born on 31 January 1785.1 He was the son of Ichabob Ward and Lydia Tower.1 William Ward married Sally Briggs in 1806.1 William Ward died in 1849.1

     Samuel Milliken was born in 1746 at Dromore, Ireland.1 He was the son of James Milliken and Elizabeth Davis.1 Samuel Milliken married Margaret Foster in 1775.1 Samuel Milliken died on 28 October 1804.1 He came to America in 1763 to engage in the manufacturing and merchandizing of linen. He first settled on the Schuylkill River, near Philadelphia, but after the death of his father, moved to Hishacoquilles Valley in Miflin County, Pa. Whilst Washington's arm was at Valley Forge, some 150 miles distant, he and his neighbors collected food and clothing w3hich they delivered by their teams to the soldiers.1

     James Milliken was the son of Robert John Milliken.1 James Milliken married Elizabeth Davis.1 James Milliken died on 7 June 1776.1 Emigrated to this country with his father in 1772 and settled on the Conewago River not far from Harrisburg, Pa. He is buried in Lancaster County, Pa.1
