     Moved with his family westward to Ohio. They went first to Chillicothe, Ohio with the McElroys. Thomas went further west but David decided to try it on his own and stayed in Chillicothe with his brother-in-law. He did some teaming with Ebenezer McElroy for the army in Ohio from Portsmouth to Columbus during the War of 1812. He rejoined his father in 1814. All their children were born in Fayette Co., OH and their baptism and church membership records are in the session minutes of the Old Presbyterian Church of Greenfield, Ohio. In 1845 David and his family withdrew their memberships and moved up north to Stokes Township, Logan Co., in an area bordering on the north short of Indian Lake. There is a lengthy discussion of his history in "The Ghormley Story".¹
