193. Elisha⁹ Stanton (Daniel⁸, John⁷, Capt John⁶, Thomas⁵, Thomas⁴, Thomas³, John², Thomas¹) was born in Preston, New London, CT Oct 1752. In October 9, 1887, his son Gershom Rust said that Elisha was born in October 1754. Elisha died 13 Feb 1813 Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma. Of spotted fever.

He married Anna Rust 1781. Anna was born Chester, Hampden Co., Ma. 1 Nov 1762. Anna was the daughter of Gershom Rust Sr and Mary Cooley. Anna died 6 Jun 1808 Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma.

He resided in Vermont 1775. Elisha's son Gershom, says that one of the Galusha boys went with Elisha after the close of the Revolutionary War, from PReson, Conn to Vermont, entered the service of the then Governor of Vermont, as his clerk or secretary and afterward married the Governor's daughter, and some years later became Governor of the State, succeeding himself in that office for a number of terms.

He resided Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 1775. He purchased and resided on a hill farm on the Westfield river, five miles above (north of) Chester village and about three miles east of the Chester meeting-house and two miels west of the Norwich meeting-house; 10 miles from Northampton, Mass. The name given to the location by the residents was Goff's hill; the Rust family, resided on the Chester township side of the hill, and the Stanton family on the other or Norwich township side.

383 i. Anna¹⁰ Stanton was born Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 10 Mar 1785. Anna died 29 Jun 1869 Bryant Hill, Ellicottville, Ny. She married Samuel Bryant 7 Jul 1808. Samuel died 17 Apr 1863 Near Ellicottville, Ny. (See Samuel Bryant for the continuation of this line.)

She resided Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma until 1821. She resided Cattaraugus Co., Ny after 1821.

384 ii. Orrill Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 11 Mar 1789. Orrill died Geneva, Minn. She married Hervey Kingsley Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma, Sep 1813. Hervey was the son of Joseph Kingsley. Hervey died 1826 West Hampton, Ma. (See Hervey Kingsley for the continuation of this line.)

She resided From 1838 until 1 Jul 1857. With her daughter Eliza Ann Williams.

385 iii. Frances Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 16 Jun 1797. Frances died 28 Jul 1878 Stonebreaker, Eldorado Co., Ca. She married Freeman Bryant New Lebanon, Ny, 15 May 1818. In the family group of Elisha Stanton, his daughter's marriage is given as April, 1818. In her ow nfamily group the date is 15 May 1818. William Stanton does not explain the discrepancy. Freeman was the son of Nathaniel Bryant.

Freeman died 29 Jan 1860 Great Valley, Ny. (See Freeman Bryant for the continuation of this line.)

She resided California 11 May 1870. She moved with her son Herman L. and her sister Achsah. William Stanton spells her name Francis when listed as a child and as Frances in her own listing.

386 iv. Huldah Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 17 Sep 1799. Huldah died 24 Sep 1887 North Otsego, Steuben Co., Indiana. She married David Clapp Rust Ellicottville, Ny, 5 Dec 1822. David was born Chester, Hampden Co., Mass 11 Nov 1795. David was the son of Justin Rust. David died 24 Jul 1838 Ellicottville, Ny. 389 vii. Polly Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 1 Nov 1783. Polly died 5 Aug 1873 Kent, Ohio. At the home of her daughter Martha Amelia Munsee. She married Mark Williams Norwich Township, Hampshire Co, Ma., 1801.

390 viii. Elisha Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma Feb 1787. Elisha died 1809. Unmarried

391 ix. Martha (Patty) Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 6 Apr 1791. Martha died 8 Nov 1846 Ellicottville, Ny. She married Quartus Rust Chester Township, Hamden Co., Ma, Sep 1816. She was married by her brother John W. Stanton at his house.

Quartus was born Chester, Mass 30 Sep 1790. Quartus was the son of Justin Rust and Margaret Clapp. Quartus died 4 Sep 1870 Elicottville, Ny. (See Quartus Rust for the continuation of this line.)

392 x. Lydia Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 1 Apr 1793. Lydia died 16 Feb 1879 West Chesterfield, Mass. She married Abner Kinne Oct 1816. In the family group for Elisha Stanton, his daughter's marriage is given as Oct., 1816 but in her own family group it is 1 Nov. 1816. William Stanton does not explain the discrepancy.

Abner was born 1790. Abner was the son of Roger Kinne and Eunice ??. Abner died 17 Sep 1878 West Chesterfield, Mass.⁽⁴²⁰⁴⁾ (See Abner Kinne for the continuation of this line.)

393 xi. Achsah Stanton was born Goff's Hill, Norwich Township, Hampshire Co., Ma 11 Jun 1795. Achsah died 22 Apr 1879. Unmarried.
